Course description
The course is aimed at exploring Vaporwave and publishing the results of the workshop as an album. On the surface Vaporwave, is a microgenre of electronic music and a meme; however, the ideas behind it are a statement and a position towards music production, art and copyrights in general. The course will provide in-depth knowledge on the background, core ideas, strategies and methods for functioning applied in Vaporwave.

Organization of the course
The course will start with an introductory meeting on the evening of the 3rd of November to discuss the field where Vaporwave formed, the ideas behind it and the methods and strategies applied in it. Afterwards, we will divide into groups depending on the interests: source scouting, audio editing, image editing, video editing. On the 4th, we will start by having short introductions to using the basic features of related free and cross-platform software: Audacity, Gimp and DaVinci Resolve. Afterwards, we will have a hackathon type workshop to create a collaborative album and the relevant materials for it. Depending on how productive we will be, the workshop can last till the evening of the 8th - we will have to finalize the release by then to do the audio mastering and share the results on the evening of the 9th.

Practical information
The course will take place in VDA Mizarai workshop and recreation base. We will meet at Vilnius faculty of VDA and take a bus to travel there together.
Both the bus and accommodation (which includes bed linen and towels) at Mizarai are provided by VDA, however be sure to come to Vilnius either early on the 3rd or one day in advance to be able to board the bus at 9 AM on the 3rd of November. We will be back in Vilnius via bus in the afternoon of the 10th of November.

Notes
* All participants should have a laptop. If you do not have the possibility to bring one, inform me and I’m sure I could find some extra ones in the academy or my personal storage. Those who wish to work with sound editing, need to bring a set of headphones as well. We will be using cloud storage for sharing files and working together as a group.
* The result of a similar courses hosted in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022 was a project called “One Person And”
(https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd78ljdlMd1PCllN5C9W0w61uI7hrRrw_&si=BlqndMtyG7-qnzR5). The result could be the fifth album of this project, but if it ends up being different, it could be a new project instead.
